Untitled, 1971

Rosemary Mayer, Untitled, 1971, Nylon tricot, nylon lace, vinyl, thread, 223.5 × 294.6 × 20.3 cm

The untitled work is the only sculpture of Mayer’s that still exists from 1971. It was made from small scraps of different types of fabric: rayon, nylon, vinyl and lace, sewn together. Much of these fabrics were obtained from her friend, poet Hannah Weiner, who was working at a lingerie manufacturer and would bring extra or discarded fabric.
