Path (Chandelier), 2022
This sculpture is part of the Chandelier series.
Sealed by strong turmeric, the wooden works refer to a strategy used by hikers and those passing through forests, uninhabited areas, steppes or deserts to mark paths leading to roads or waterways. They are also meant to be a sign of recognition and comfort for the lost, or those far from home. Historically, candles, fires and lights could be found in places of worship or in front of city walls – the entrance to safe places. Such symbols inevitably lead to discussions around exile and migratory flows.
