As part of a larger series of concrete and metal sculptures, Álvaro considers plants, fruit, and flowers as witnesses of a fictional encounter. Placeholders of the empty memory of those who are gone, they hold an architectural presence once scattered across the floor.
In their presentation, Urbano imagines a fictitious encounter between architect Luis Barragán and poet Federico García Lorca. Mixing fiction and history, the Spanish artist creates a sculptural play between them, explored by the objects that remain in their place. Replicas of pomegranates, Urbano’s sculptures allude to fragility and decay but transform the work into solid and lasting memories. The artwork thus becomes fragments of a fixed testimony of minor details that pass, mostly unnoticed, along our daily lives.
