Chert gallery presented the first solo exhibition of Zora Mann Coagula, on Saturday the 25th of April, 2015.
Mann created a mosaic-like curtain made out of recycled flip flops, inspired by the project initiated by marine conservationist Julie Church in the nineties. Characteristic of her curtains are mandala eye motifs, which refer to her themes of paranoia and hyper-perception in society.
Downstairs, Mann covered a wall of the gallery with a mural, titled Who Are The Dolphins?. The
scenario includes abstracts patterns together with more recognisable figures. Who Are The Dolphins?
refers to a cult movement linked to the website ‘treeofthegoldenlight’, run by a community in southern and midwestern America recording accounts of supernatural encounters and spiritual transcendence, who believe, among other things, that dolphins are aliens that will save the world.
