Play dead!

The title Play Dead! refers to a behaviour by which animals as well as some fungi or plants ‘pretend’ to be dead.
It is a state of immobility triggered by a traumatic, predatory, defensive or reproductive act and can be observed in a wide range of animals, from insects and crustaceans to mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish and, of course, in humans.
