On the occasion of the gallery’s 15th anniversary, which coincides with Berlin Art Week, the exhibition My Demons My Angels gathers some of ChertLüdde’s numerous stories from recent years. To hold a commune for some of the shared hopes, dreams and desires, while also allowing space for the fears, risks and creative uncertainties that bind a cultural space together, the exhibition hosts 27 different positions.
Bringing all the represented artists of ChertLüdde together for the first time, the exhibition celebrates new and existing artworks. Some of the pieces collide in themes, while others explore individualistic and unique paths. The handwritten neon words: “all the time that came before this moment” and “all the time that will come after this moment,” flank both sides of the exhibition space. In his fluorescent script, the artist David Horvitz’s words announce the open parameters of the exhibition and point to its overlapping trajectories in a suspension between past and future; positive and negative; demons and angels.
On the occasion of this anniversary, Kasia Fudakowski will perform This is not a performance (2014 – ongoing) on the opening night.
