“The word similarity is normally conceived of as a notion that brings two objects, people, places, or concepts together, to rub up close, emphasizing what they have in common, and heightening their compatibility. But in this very motion the word similarity asserts an irreconcilable distance between things: it stresses that these things of which we speak are not identical. It pulls by pushing away.
It is this double-motion that leads me to say that similarity is a word which accommodates difference.”

Blue Painting is Josephine Baker-Heaslip’s first exhibition in Berlin. She graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins (London) in 2012. She lives and works in Berlin.
