Heike Kabisch A house. A light. A hole 17 April – 19 June 2010
Chert is proud to present “ A house. A light. A hole.” the first Berlin solo exhibition of German artist Heike Kabisch.
The project transforms the gallery into a unique scenario, where different characters and elements are posed in relation to one another.
Three figures and their ideas govern the scene: a house, a light and a hole.
A man is leaning from the window of his house, in an undefinable, ambiguous position. Behind him a yellow light highlights his figure and the room inside.
Around the corner, two young ladies are walking away, we can only just see their back.
Upstairs, the bucolic sound of spurting water attends the sight of a woman and her siesta.
She is sitting peacefully for her “Déjeuner sur l’herbe”, her right hand posed on her genitals and a gentle expression on her face.
But instead of sitting on flowers and plants, she sits on an old dirty manhole cover, with a sewer underneath.
