In the Event of Sculpture, 2009

Steel, rigid foam, resin, magnets, filler

Edition of 5 + I AP

In the Event of Sculpture 2009, a 6min stop-frame animation, is an attempt to build the observer into a natural phenomenon. This ever-changing sculpture attempts to defeat the, idea of, object, or at least demonstrates that specific form of awkwardness experienced when our
language, in the light of scientific discoveries, looses its accuracy. Inspired by Uncertainty theory, and disturbed by the absurdity seen in Physics at a quantum level, this animated sculpture shows off in front of and for the observer who becomes inevitably implicated. The sculpture is in a sense aware of itself, it knows that it knows, and the within of it can finally be
detected from the without.
